From The Week 22 Newsletter

From my http://www.ninemonths.com.au/ weekly newsletter for week 22 (which starts on Monday):

At this stage, the baby may be settling into a regular pattern of activity and sleep that may be opposite to yours. This pattern remains for the first few months of life.

I guess it's good that PreZ and I are pretty nocturnal, as this kid seems active a lot between 10pm to 1 or 2am. It's 2am now and there's been activity on and off for the past few hours.

So far I've not felt anything while I've been asleep, or it's not been enough to wake me up. Sometimes I'll feel a few things when I do wake up, but not much. Mid to late afternoons there's often some activity on and off, sometimes in the early evening. A lot of this also coincides with eating or drinking, I'm guessing the various digestive noises and restriction of moving space might be the cause of that.

Mostly activity while I've been awake. Fingers crossed that it stays this way. Though with the frequent feeding stuff, I get the feeling that I'll want to sleep nearly all the time initially, so it'll be moot for the first couple of weeks.

Incidentally, another piece of good, and slightly related, news... PreZ's work offers 4 weeks paid paternity leave effective when the baby is born. He would have worked from home anyway, but it's nice that this way he can actually be home and not necessarily work. Though considering how hectic work is, and that he's an integral part at work too, whether or not this actually works out that way is another thing.

Maybe there's a way for him to intersperse paternity leave work-free weeks with working-from-home weeks? Thereby getting down time as well as keeping his boss happy? Who knows. It might be worth consideration.
