Tha-Thump
Last night PreZ engaged in what's mostly a nightly ritual by now, the feeling of the belly, or laying his head on it for a while to listen, or to feel kicks, seeing as the baby will start up with the karate whenever PreZ has his head on my belly, because it puts its space at a bit more of a premium.
Still in pursuit of that second heartbeat. Last night he had success!
It took a while, but he could first hear some gurgling in between my heartbeats so he kept at it. Eventually he managed to pick out a much faster heartbeat. Very cool indeed. Now we don't have to wait for the doppler at the midwife's office every 4 weeks. Or at least, PreZ doesn't, but then again, I get to feel the kicks, punches, flips and rolls. The flip/roll thing is really the weirdest part. That's the feeling I really can't get used to because it's so odd. It doesn't happen much, but it's very odd. I can't really describe it other than that you should imagine one of your internal organs flipping or rolling on its axis, and that you could feel it doing that.
But he got an earful of the baby's heartbeat, as well as some Burt's Bees Sweet Almond & Lemon body oil :) that stuff smells absolutely glorious, and it's what I rub into the belly before going to bed.
