Glucose Crap

When nailing down the exact day and time of our midwife's appointment last week, Sakina asked me if I'd ever gotten the Glucose test (for gestational diabetes, which you take around 28 weeks) done. I answered in the affirmative, mentioning that I'd had it done the day before or after our previous appointment back in late April, when I was 28 weeks along.

Apparantly the lab hadn't seen fit to notify her of the results. She also couldn't find them on her online lab account and then had to go chasing down the results. So yesterday she called to tell me that my glucose levels were elevated, and that I need to get the three hour test done (the original glucose test is one hour). Bleh.

I'm pretty sure that it's going to come back clear, and I'm pretty sure that I know why the first test failed too, as I'd been having (and feeding) a major candy craving that week, so I'm betting that even though I didn't eat before that test (as told) that my bloodsugar levels would have been fairly high all week.

So Friday 8am it's off to the lab again for 3 hours. Which is going to be boring as all get out, plus it involves many more blood draws, which isn't that much fun either.
