Test Results

Sakina called with my test results. Everything's just fine.

She does want me to take one more this week to make sure, but after that, that's it. Technically I should be getting tested every week until I deliver, which at this stage of the game obviously is going to be relatively soon as today marks week 38, but seeing as the results were good, and if they stay good, she doesn't see a need.

Now here's hoping that I don't get Friday's lab tech when I go in again, and the other one instead, because I don't need a repeat of him trying to extract bone marrow from my hand rather than blood. I'll need to go in on Thursday anyway as Sakina's going to be here on Friday for our standing 1pm appointment and the bloodtest + eating + waiting time + travel time would just take up too much of the day. Or it would mean I'd need to get up really early, which generally isn't my thing.

Part of me wonders if it's worth recommending to the pregnant or potentially-pregnant-to-be people that read my blog or livejournal that they get the more definitive bloodtest straight out of the gate, or as soon as they get dubious results from the 1 hour glucose test (and instead of the longer 3 hour glucose test which can be equally dubious). Needle wise it doesn't make any difference, at least not between the bloodtest and the 1 hour glucose test, as you get stabbed the same amount of times for the vials of blood, but at least the results are more accurate and definitive about your how your body is functioning. But I guess that the more elaborate labwork might be more expensive? who knows.
